This event is for those who have experienced loss on their parenting journey through pregnancy loss, infant loss, child loss, or infertility.

Together, we will create something at the Archie Bray in honor of your little one(s) or your experience.*

Adults and children ages 6 and older are welcome to join.

Please click here to sign up ahead of time!

Reach out to Maureen with questions: mbjerke@sphealth.org or 406-461-4449

*We want to acknowledge the difference between infertility and perinatal loss while also making space for everyone carrying grief. Infertility can be a loss of its own, and we invite you to create something that feels meaningful to you.

Early Childhood Learning Lab

Free Food • Real Conversations • Practical Advocacy Skills

Join us for a Community Conversation on early childhood!

Come share what it’s really like raising and supporting young kids in our community - the good, the hard, and everything in between. What’s helping your family right now? What’s missing? What would make the biggest difference?

Your voice will help guide Zero to Five Montana as they shape the early childhood policies they’ll take to the Capitol - so the priorities they champion reflect what families and professionals actually need. For instance, what do you think about a child tax credit?

Build Your Confidence with Advocacy Learning Lab

Ever wondered how decisions get made - and how you can actually influence them? This approachable advocacy training is designed to make the process feel less intimidating and more doable.

You’ll learn the basics of how decisions are made in the Montana Legislature and why your voice as a parent, caregiver, or professional truly matters.

We’ll help you turn your real-life experiences into a powerful story and share simple, practical ways you can speak up and advocate.

No prior experience needed - just bring your perspective and a willingness to learn.

Families Like Ours

The Early Childhood Collaborative and the Helena Village Collective, along with many community partners want to create space for parents to share their real stories. Parenting is messy, complicated, and sometimes overwhelming—but no one should have to go through it alone. By telling our stories, we remind one another that struggle is normal, connection is possible, and our community cares deeply about giving children the best start in life. We believe the best way to raise healthy, thriving children is to also nurture healthy, connected parents.

Wave of Light

Wave of Light

Join the Early Childhood Collaborative at 7 pm for a candle lighting to recognize and remember all the babies who died too soon.

Our version of the Wave of Light is open and inclusive. You are welcome to light a candle in honor of the pregnancy, baby, or child you lost. Maybe you never had the chance to have a baby—you are welcome. Maybe your child died at 18—you are welcome, too. Or, simply come stand alongside families who carry this grief every day - a quiet but meaningful show of support.

We will provide battery-operated candles, with live music by local musician Joslyn Dollar and hot cocoa as we come together in community to honor the babies we hold in our hearts and the loved ones who miss them.

Please feel free to bring any items you’d like to honor your little one(s).

If you have questions, reach out: Maureen Bjerke at mbjerke@sphealth.org or 406-461-4449 (call or text)

Click here to download the flyer.

More info on the Wave of Light.

Thank you to 1889 Coffee House for donating the hot cocoa. We appreciate the support from our community.

Honoring our Grief by the Creek
Jun

Honoring our Grief by the Creek

Join us for a gentle gathering by Tenmile Creek* to honor the many forms of grief that come with parenting — whether you're mourning a child, a pregnancy, or a dream that never came to be. *Please Note: We mean Tenmile Creek - the actual Creek, not Ten Mile the brewery!

We'll spend time by the water, crafting small boats from natural materials (bark, leaves, sticks) and sending them downstream. You’re welcome to bring a camp chair or blanket, take part in the activity, or simply sit and be in the presence of others who understand.

There’s no expectations — just a shared space to honor grief in a peaceful setting.

Logistical Information:

  • All ages are welcome but please know we will be outside and by water. Please dress - and plan - accordingly.

  • There are no bathrooms on site. There is a gas station nearby, though.

To find us, use the address 1425 Mill Road as your guide. We won’t be at the house itself—we’ll be outside, near the creek. Feel free to park anywhere once you come through the gate. It’s a short walk to the creek from where you’ll park. Be careful as we are parking and walking on uneven ground.

If you ever feel like you’re unsure if you’re welcome at these loss events, please reach out. I’m always happy to chat or answer questions. Maureen: 406-461-4449 (call/text) or mbjerke@sphealth.org.
